Description

This 1942 Lincoln Continental cabriolet is one of 136 examples produced for the model year, and is finished in Bristol Blue over tan leather and powered by a 306ci flathead V12 paired with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a vacuum-operated soft top, vacuum-operated windows, a spare tire carrier, gold interior trim, and a Zenith Auto-Radio AM radio with a foot-controlled automatic change cycle. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2005 following a refurbishment that was reportedly completed by Bart Newlin, and is said to have included both a mechanical and cosmetic refresh. The most recent service was performed in 2016 and is said to have included installing rebuilt water pumps, cleaning the fuel tank, and refreshing the cooling system.

The body was reportedly refinished in Bristol Blue during the refurbishment. Details include a tan vacuum-operated soft top, push-button door handles, rear fender skirts, chrome bumpers and trim, and the “Ball and Wing” hood ornament unique to 1942 models. The seller notes that there is a paint blemish ahead of the left-rear fender.

The suspension was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment. The cabin has been reupholstered and features tan leather seats and door panels along with matching carpets. Metal details throughout the interior are finished in gold, and amenities include vacuum-operated windows, push-button door handles, an analog clock, and a Zenith Auto-Radio AM radio with foot control.

The 306ci flathead V12 features cast iron heads and was factory rated at 130 horsepower. The motor was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment, and subsequent service in 2016 reportedly included installing rebuilt water pumps, cleaning the fuel system, and refreshing the cooling system.
